As a young adult, I was given this advice during a time that I could choose where to worship and learn the teachings of Jesus. My parents were no longer choosing for me. Most of my childhood was spent in the conservative town of Abilene, Texas. Not only do you have your choice of churches in the area, but you are able to choose to attend a Church of Christ, Baptist, or a Methodist university. Abilene is home to all 3 of these universities.
I had a loving and spiritual relationship with God. When it was time to choose a church, I had to choose one that would continue this relationship with God, but one that my husband and future family could develop their own relationship with God. This church would also be one where we would establish a spiritual community and family. God answered our prayers and we found the perfect church for us. I believe that there are different religions, and churches for everyone. I have been asked, “Do you feel that going to church is a habit and something that you have always done since childhood?” My answer is definitely, and being a part of a church grounds me and gives me a foundation to continue this glorious relationship with God.
Everybody has a unique journey and pathway that they have to learn and grow from. I began my spiritual awakening when I was in my 20’s. My experiences were difficult to discuss with my friends from church since it was considered paranormal, and the traditional scriptures of the bible warned against “opening the door” to the psychic world. I became afraid to go against God. I wanted to continue my relationship with him. I decided to close the psychic door and to use my intuition gift sparingly.
The bible teaches us about the Gifts of the Spirit in Corinthians (1 Corinthians 12:4-11).
There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. 5 There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. 6 There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.7 Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. 8 To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, 10 to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues,[a] and to still another the interpretation of tongues.[b] 11 All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.
How can somebody be condemned if they are using a spiritual gift that God has given them? My calling as a psychic medium became apparent when I decided to retire from my job. God created me, and I knew that I needed to use the spiritual gifts that he gave me. With any spiritual or religious journey, we question, become critics, and have doubts about the decisions that we make. I was at a crossroads in my journey. Which way should I go? One pathway would lead to helping others heal and continue on their journey, and the other pathway would lead to not using the spiritual gift. The choice seemed easy to me. I know the power and love of God.
I am one that has to complete research to learn. Yes, I made the decision to work as a psychic medium, but my research became depressing. Every Christian website that I turned to for information on how to be a Christian and a psychic condemned the practice. Finally, I found a book, How to be a Christian Psychic by Adrian Lee. What a wonderful resource! The author explains about his experiences of being a healer and a psychic investigator. He also shares his knowledge about the bible. He takes the historical perspective of the passages and dives deeper into the meanings of the scriptures that condemn the psychic world.
In Deuteronomy (18:9-13), the bible addresses occult practices.
9 When you enter the land the Lord your God is giving you, do not learn to imitate the detestable ways of the nations there. 10 Let no one be found among you who sacrifices their son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, 11 or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. 12 Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord; because of these same detestable practices, the Lord your God will drive out those nations before you. 13 You must be blameless before the Lord your God.
Adrian Lee breaks these verses down to illustrate the true meaning of them. “It states that those who follow pagan ways (the Egyptians and the Romans with their multi-deities, for example) will not be welcomed by God into the Promised Land: “thou shalt have no other Gods.” In some pagan practices’ spells are also used to change future paths or to make individuals pursue tasks, not of their free will. These practices are not in keeping with the ideology in which we are at God’s mercy or under His will or command. Remember that every practice undertaken must be achieved through consultation of God.”
I know that I will continue to have doubts on my journey to fulfilling my destiny as a psychic medium. My faith has always been my strength and will continue to be so. God has called me to use my talents, and to guide others to a spiritual pathway that leads to a relationship with him.
Yes, I am a CHRISTIAN and a PSYCHIC MEDIUM!
