While developing my psychic abilities, I discovered that I connect with the spirit world through art.Being curious of how other spiritualists utilize psychic art while reading for clients, I researched spiritualists from the past to the present and discovered that many of them have adopted their own techniques and tools while utilizing art.
What is the history of psychic art?
Surrealism, an artistic and literary movement, helped to give artists independent freedom from the strict boundaries of rationalism. A poet from Paris, André Breton, created this movement in 1924. Breton studied the workings of Sigmund Freud and was intrigued that artists’ inspirations and creativity comes from the unconscious mind through dreams. Surrealists became interested in the automatic drawing and writing that was completed by the spiritualist. Even though the surrealists did not agree with the spiritualism doctrines, they used their techniques. Robert Desnos who was a surrealist and a poet would complete séances to receive inspirations for his writings.
What is an auragraph?
Harold Sharp and his spirit guide, Chin Shih, developed the Auragraph (previously known as symbolic art) technique by depicting the human aura through colors and patterns. During a reading, a psychic reads the client’s aura and is able to obtain life events information. Symbols, color, and patterns are utilized to depict this information.
How do you create an auragraph?
Many psychic artists draw an auragraph in the shape of a mandala. The word mandala comes from Sanskrit for “magic circle.” Through Carl Jung’s work as a psychologist, he discovered that his patients would draw mandala images when drawing. He concluded that mandalas are “an expression of self and wholeness". While analyzing his patients’ drawings, he was able to discover what was happening in their unconscious.
How do different psychics complete an auragraph?
1. Craig Hamilton-Parker, a psychic medium, describes how to complete an auragraph in his blog, Psychic Art: How it’s Done. The graph below illustrates how to complete the auragraph.
2. Rita Vogel Post, a medium spirit artist, created “personal interpretations and understanding of various symbols and colors and their meanings' ' that she uses while she draws a person’s aurograph. “This language of symbols and colors emerged from her life experience and her experience with Spirit communication.” She uses watercolor pencils and paper to create her drawings.
3. Janette Oakman, psychic artist and medium, created a runograph with spirit. She uses both rune stones and an aurograph. Depending where the rune stones are placed and where they touch the other parts of the drawing has a meaning. She draws her own hands in the pictures and draws 1 rune stone for each finger. Jannette developed a YouTube video that describes how to complete this procedure at:
The Auragraph StoryBoard
Every psychic develops their clients’ auragraph differently. Through meditation and research, I was able to develop an Auragraph that not only includes pictures and symbols, but also words. Reading for clients at a psychic fair is not easy, and there is not enough time to complete a full drawing.
To begin the procedure for the Auragraph StoryBoard the client draws 5 cards from an oracle deck to complete their life story. Using the formula described by Craig Hamilton-Parker, the messages that are given by each card are written on the different sections of the auragraph storyboard. Symbols, pictures, and advice are added to each section as well. Below is a sample illustration of a completed Auragraph StoryBoard.
"The form (of the auragraph) is not as important as the content, which will include psychic information about the person being given the reading.” Craig Hamilton-Parker
